The 5-star family hotel is located in the Montafon, an alpine region in the Austrian federal state of Vorarlberg. The two-story base of the building, consisting of communal areas such as a lobby, bar, restaurant and spa, is integrated into the terrain, subsequently merging with the existing topography.
Two elongated structures accommodating the rooms sit on this new topography. All rooms provide magnificent views of the alpine surroundings, and the wooden façade pays homage to the alpine building tradition. The overall design focuses on children as its main users, incorporating playing facilities in the main building and not directing them to separate areas. The staircase connecting the two levels of the base serves for instance as a playing landscape. To further connect and encourage these activities, the outdoor playing landscape is designed as an integral part of the topography.
