Hotel Resort Königssee
The hotel is part of an urban design competition designing a new hotel and creating a revitalization concept at lake Königssee in Southern Germany.
Embracing the wonderful mountain scenery and the lake, the project is aiming to improve both the quality of tourism which is highly important for the region and to increase the attractiveness of the district for the local population.
The concept is an innovative and open hotel typology strongly connected to its surrounding. Emphasizing on the landscape and local building culture, this context is mirrored through the architectural design in a contemporary manner.
The design concept is a configuration of different building typologies -hotels, restaurants, market hall, historical buildings- and public spaces- fruit gardens, a beer garden, a playground and a central market square. The central square is providing the tourists and local population an open, inviting and accessible plaza to facilitate for different cultural and social activities- concerts, markets or other events.
