Snøhetta was commissioned to develop a feasibility study for the expansion of the International Museum of Children’s Art. To support and promote the museum, it’s plans and the importance of children’s art as an art form, Snøhetta designed two informational brochures. One shows excerpts from the permanent art collection and children’s thoughts around art, the other providing information about the feasibility study and future plans for the museum.

The feasibility study revealed that the museum will need between 1,500 and 2,000 m² of exhibition space, including offices, activity rooms, public areas, café, assembly workshop and warehouse. As it begins to seek a new site for its additional needs, the museum should be centrally located and easily accessible in Oslo. It would benefit from a location in close proximity to other cultural institutions and public transportion. Outdoor green space is also recommended for a small sculpture exhibition, playground, and outdoor seating for visitors to eat and relax. The new facilities should provide plenty of space to exhibit the museum’s valuable collection, have improved conditions for accessibility and public areas, as well as integrate diverse activities, workshops, a warehouse and areas for research-related activities.
