Artesia Wellness Center

Artesia Wellness Center

With the design of the Artesia Wellness Center, Snøhetta aimed to counteract the feeling of being two floors below street level and create an atmosphere unrelated to the world outside. Upon entering the Center, visitors descend a long spiral staircase with walls draped in back-lit translucent textiles. At the bottom of the stairs, you enter a relaxing reception area with a café, meeting room and work station facilities. The layout is organised into two areas, one open to the public and another for private members.

The wellness area is open to both members and non-members, and consists of a relax zone, six rooms for beauty treatment and solariums. The private areas of the club house individual dressing rooms, showers, steam rooms, sauna, plunge pools, solariums and common swimming pool, relaxation room and training studio.

The space is defined by a reduced, but sophisticated range of materials and colors to achieve a light, spacious, quiet and harmonious atmosphere.

The swimming pool stands out from the other areas. The pool is lit and on the back wall an underwater video is continuously shown to enhance the experience of leaving everyday life outside.
