In 2005, Snøhetta's Oslo office moved to a new space overlooking the Oslo fjords. The former garage for the Port Authority was cleaned up, and renovated to have the necessary utilities and ventilation to make it a functioning office space. The open floor plan was well-suited for our working methods and non-heirarchical organizational structure as all staff sit in a open floor plan on the the studio floor. There are no private offices, but lots of spaces for design charettes, meetings, and a daily communal lunch.
Snøhetta approaches design with the idea that creativity is not the sole domain of a single person, but is a product and process of collaboration among all participants on a project, resulting in an organic realization of a shared vision.
The lunch tables double as a meeting space outside of lunch hour.
