Bølgen & Moi, Nydalen

The Nydalen location of Bølgen and Moi´s restaurant is characterized by its signature red.   The exterior of the existing red brick building forms the frame around the main room in the restaurant, contrasting the large glass surfaces that form the new addition and provide restaurant guests with wide views of the surroundings. A forecourt features a riverside patio for outdoor dining and drinking.

To underline the contrast between the traditional brick building and the modern, open, light glass facades, Snøhetta furnished the premises with natural and sturdy materials such as steel-coloured polished concrete, rough black acoustic ceiling plates mounted directly beneath the corrugated metal plate cover, untreated dressed brick wall surfaces where the openings in the bricks have been sealed and the bricks themselves have been freshened up by only a wash. The open food preparation and serving area is framed by high glazed black tiles.  All built-in and specially designed fixtures have been done in Bølgen and Moi’s signature red.
