Seaside Cabin Holmsbu

Seaside Cabin Holmsbu

Situated on the ridge of a small hillside close to the sea this cabin is subdivided into two parts, sleeping quarters and kitchen/family room, in order to rest well on the topography.
The design is meant to pay respect to the existing 1960's cabins of the nearby area. The slight tilt of the roof, the small scale, the large panorama window set in the corner and the use of weatherboard cladding is typical of this period. The interiors are kept simple. Birch veneer in the family room and sleeping quarters and panels of a dark black/red stained veneer in the kitchen and wetrooms.
With a brief to accommodate a family of 5 and potential guests the building is quite compact and relies on an extensive use of the outdoors thus minimizing room of corridors.
